These are the questions that we worked through in our Science and Technology lesson.

Learning about writing Persuasive Texts

Why do we write persuasive texts? To convince the reader of something.
Year 2 has been learning about persuading our readers. Today the students created a text by reading cut up sentences and putting them in the correct order.

Collection of Equipment for Science and Technology Lessons - Please help your child to collect the equipment that is required: Science lesson is Tuesday

1 Shoebox - strong
1 Paper towel roll
2 Empty plastic bottles with lid - clean with wrappers removed (Maximum size 1L)

HIGE Lesson Thursday
All Students need to know their address. They also need to know what area they live in eg Sutherland Shire, St George Council etc.

Cake Day - Friday
It is Year 2s turn to bring cakes for the Junior School to purchase. Please send 10 - 15 cakes on Friday morning.

Speaking and Listening

Students prepare a list of what is needed to deliver a great speech. 

Reading

Reading is essential homework each night. It is expected that the students read each night. Please complete the Reading Log and send it back to school after each time 20 books have been read. This is an area of the curriculum that we will be focussing on this term.

Spelling 

Phoneme Fingers - colour the consonant phonemes blue and the vowel phonemes red.

Extend a Word - choose a word from the spelling list. Break it into its phonemes. Add the word from the THRASS chart that the phoneme represents. Consonants words are written in blue above the word and vowels are in red below the word.

Write a Sentence - write each word in a sentence. Underline the word that is the spelling word used in the sentence. Encourage the use of adjectives and adverbs in the sentence.

Rhymes - write words to rhyme with 

 felt, head, tell, many

2P Peer Reading

2P enjoyed their peer reading time together, along with some crunch and sip!

Peer Reading

This term, the students in Year 2 will be doing Peer Reading once a week. During this time, the students will read the book that they have been studying to their partner. The students started today and were most cooperative.

Extend A Word Homework
