Creating a Collage

Year 2 students have been studying the book, Where the Forest Meets the Sea, Written and Illustrated by Jeannie Baker. She used the collage style of art to create the illustrations. Today the Year 2 students created their own collage based on this style of art. They had a very enjoyable time of cutting, tearing and gluing to create different textures and colours and layered effects of where the forest meets the sea.

Learning about the Past and Writing Information Reports

Year 2 has enjoyed another productive day of learning.

Two really interesting lessons were our Writing Lesson and our History Lesson.

We explored texts that had been written by other students to see exactly what was in an Information Report.
Then we broke up a report into the different categories.
Next week we will write our own paragraphs about a Ulysses Butterfly.

In History we have been studying the History of our Local Area.
We looked at how the access to the area has changed over time. We were particularly looking at the punt that went across the Georges River and how it was replaced by the Alfords Point Bridge.
We drew these aspects on a map and labeled it past and present using a coloured key.
Then we made a punt to add to our work about the disadvantages of a punt and why the bridge was necessary.
