Toys from the past and the present
HIGE lessons are so exciting in Stage 1. We work in collaborative groups.
Our first task was to work out the difference between toys of the past and toys of the present.
STEM - Problem- Create a toy out of the materials provided.
In the past some children created their own toys. They used materials that they could find at home.
Here are the groups working on their toys.
Our Reporters showed the toys that were created.

HIGE Lessons - Working in Collaborative Teams
Stage 1 are working together to learn about our past, present and future. We started our unit of work on Toys by learning about the Roles the students will play when they work in teams. The roles are the Gopher, the Writer, the Reporter and the Encourager.
The students practised their collaborative skills when they chatted about their favourite toys. Each student was assigned a role and the teams worked together to answer the question. Why do we have toys?

More Games in Maths
Year 2 students had so much fun learning how to write numbers in ascending and decending order.
Each student picked a card from his or her pile and then decided where it would fit in the order of numbers.
