Mini Excursion - Bushland near the School

On Wednesday we ventured down the fire trail behind Bunyan's Land. It was a perfect sunny day and the bush was alive with wonder. We had a number of parents join us and we experienced the creek flowing as well birds and nature at its best.

We looked for signs of human invasion and found some. We also looked for natural happenings - found these as well.

A great way to incorporate what is so close to us into our environment unit. Loving Year 2.

Thank you to Mr Coote for the photographs of the walk.

Maths - 3D objects

Year 2 spent the week past exploring 3D objects. We counted their faces, edges and vertices and made 3D objects using toothpicks and marshmallows. The toothpicks made the edges clearer to see and the marshmallows highlighted the vertices. We all took our objects home but it was a challenge keeping the edges connected when the vertices were so delicious!

Creating Collages in Year 2.

The students are loving the Visual Arts program. Year 2 has read the book Where the Forest Meets the Sea by Jeannie Baker. In the book all of the illustrations were created using the collage technique. The students are creating their own collages.

Learning to Log on to Technology.

Today we worked with Mr Host to learn how to log on to computers. After that we typed in our email addresses and then we tried to get on to Google Drive.

We are all very excited because we can start to learn about typing our stories and some of our learning reflections.

Mrs Davis can then log on to Hapara and mark our work.

We are growing up and really pushing forward in our learning.
